Welcome to Indigo Counselling Services
Hi, I’m Sue,
a fully qualified and insured Counsellor, registered with the Australian Counsellors Association.
My passion is empowering individuals and couples to work with their strengths, and apply healthy practices to their daily lives and interactions.
I enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds, and my speciality areas are helping individuals effected by Abuse, and Grief and Loss; and guiding clients through Relationship Counselling and Conflict Resolution.
My door is open to all clients needing an understanding ear.
As my personal life experiences will reflect, I’ve had firsthand struggles with numerous issues faced by many. It wasn’t always easy, but I’ve managed to navigate my way to a fulfilling life. I’ve gained an empathetic understanding and I’m a much stronger person, because of these experiences :-
- Multiple Miscarriages
- Fertility problems / Fertility Assisted conceptions
- Mother of 3 healthy children
- Divorce & custody battles
- Remarried / blended family
- Breast Cancer (bilateral mastectomy 2014)
- Domestic Violence / trauma throughout my childhood
- Mental health / depression
- Family death, grief and loss
- F.I.F.O family / lifestyle for five years
My interest in helping others spans many years, in fact, decades and includes training and working as a Lifeline Telephone Counsellor and Rape Crisis Telephone Counsellor. I’m committed to upgrading my skills through professional development and supervision, attending workshops and seminars regularly.
I have endeavoured to create a private practice that reflects not only who I am as an individual, but also what I value most in life … heartfelt conversations … a comfortable place to fall – and grow … pragmatic and confident steps forward towards desired outcomes … humble acceptance of what is beyond my control.
I enjoy walking alongside my clients, encouraging them, providing them with ‘tools‘ to better handle future obstacles they many encounter, and empowering them to make healthy decisions for themselves.
On a personal note, I enjoy travelling, photography, experiencing different cultures, yoga, being creative and all varieties of fruit. I strive to live a real life (warts and all) and choose to live carefully, not fearfully.
